‘Kubla Kong’ uses childlike imagery to express anxiety over the modern world. A figure watches the landcape below from the safety of an elevated apartment reminiscent of Charles Schridde’s ‘House of the Future’. The artwork collects together iconography inspired by Maurice Sendak’s 'Where the Wild Things Are’, Coleridge’s ‘Kubla Khan’, and ‘Alice in Wonderland’ to evoke the omnipresent madness looming outside our windows.
